We did it! It’s been an active week, but the payoff was immensely satisfying, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the way things came together. Having had a chance to rest our feet over the weekend, we return this week to give you a quick recap of the third edition of the Global Mobile App Summit and Awards.
Keynotes and Panels
Following an excellent Badge Pick-up Party on the night before the big day, GMASA was inaugurated by Priyank Kharge, Minister of Karnataka for IT and BT. The event was also graced by representatives of the Make in India initiative, a program introduced by the Indian Government to encourage and facilitate the development of India as a global design and manufacturing hub for both indigenous and international companies.
Kicking off with an introduction from our Chairman, Mr Venkatesh C.R., the event dived straight into the heart of the matter with an engaging panel discussion on the key trends in the mobile industry. GMASA then gathered steam, featuring informative keynote speeches and panel discussions from entrepreneurs and business leaders. The two-day event featured Ronen Mense from AppsFlyer, Girish Ramdas from Magzter, Rachit Uppal from Twitter, Ewan Darby from Cake, Shalini Poddar from Google and many others. It was encouraging and amazing to see the audience enthusiastically engage and participate in the discussions, posing challenging questions to the speakers and panellists.
The GMASA awards saw a number of well-deserving developers and entrepreneurs bag the coveted trophy under various categories for mobile apps. Some of the winners included: Magzter for the Best News and Magazines App of 2016, Limeroad for the Best eCommerce App, PayTunes for the Best Entertainment App and nanu for the Best Communications App. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) won the People’s Choice Award at GMASA. Our exhibition floor which featured 31 stalls from leading mobile enterprises had an excellent turnout with GMASA attendees flocking to the floor. Networking and engagement opportunities were rife, and our exhibitors were inundated with eager mobile app enthusiasts.
Your StartUp Story
This special event granted successful startups a platform to share the story of their startups: from conception to successful execution. MyChildApp, an innovative parenting app took home the prize for the Best Your StartUp Story.
La Flair Launches @ GMASA’16
GMASA’16 was also proud to be the launching grounds for La ‘Flair, an app that aims to serve the best in dining and entertainment experience to its members at over 5000 fine dining establishment and 1250 Star Hotels, and other service providers across the nation. The company’s founder and CEO, Mr. Raj Gupta, introduced and launched the service on Day 1 of the event.
Comedy and Music
The first day of the summit culminated with a hilarious stand-up show by comedian Karthik Kumar of EVAM, followed by a truly entertaining music show by the all-girl rock band, VOID.
Attendees and delegates also got to unwind and mingle after the first day’s events at a truly delightful and fun-filled after-party hosted and sponsored by our friends at AppsFlyer!
All in all, it has been an exhilarating, yet educative few days at Bangalore, and we cannot wait to wait to take our event to more cities in the months to come. Continue watching this space, there’s definitely more to come.
