GMASA’16 @ Bangalore: A Recap

We did it! It’s been an active week, but the payoff was immensely satisfying, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the way things came together. Having had a chance to rest our feet over the weekend, we return this week to give you a quick recap of the third edition of the Global Mobile App Summit and Awards.

Keynotes and Panels
Following an excellent Badge Pick-up Party on the night before the big day, GMASA was inaugurated by Priyank Kharge, Minister of Karnataka for IT and BT. The event was also graced by representatives of the Make in India initiative, a program introduced by the Indian Government to encourage and facilitate the development of India as a global design and manufacturing hub for both indigenous and international companies.

Kicking off with an introduction from our Chairman, Mr Venkatesh C.R., the event dived straight into the heart of the matter with an engaging panel discussion on the key trends in the mobile industry. GMASA then gathered steam, featuring informative keynote speeches and panel discussions from entrepreneurs and business leaders. The two-day event featured Ronen Mense from AppsFlyer, Girish Ramdas from Magzter, Rachit Uppal from Twitter, Ewan Darby from Cake, Shalini Poddar from Google and many others. It was encouraging and amazing to see the audience enthusiastically engage and participate in the discussions, posing challenging questions to the speakers and panellists.

The Awards
The GMASA awards saw a number of well-deserving developers and entrepreneurs bag the coveted trophy under various categories for mobile apps. Some of the winners included: Magzter for the Best News and Magazines App of 2016, Limeroad for the Best eCommerce App, PayTunes for the Best Entertainment App and nanu for the Best Communications App. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) won the People’s Choice Award at GMASA.
